Homework

WEEKLY

We recommed that children read a minimum of 5 times a week and get into a good reading routine at home.

We also expect them to write 3 sentences in their home writing books each week using a word in each sentence from their common exception word sheet. Their reading books will be changed once every week and we will have a look at their sentences and give out Do Jo's as a reward. We assess the children once a term on the common exception words and will send a new sheet home so you know which words to target in their red writing books each term.

We set 6 spellings each week on Do Jo for you to practise at home but we do not have a test in school. Your child also has a log in for spelling shed to help them learn their common exception words.

TERMLY

Each term we will be sending home a homework 'menu' along with our termly overview letter.  Please do as many of the activities as you feel is comfortable for your individual family circumstances. We try to make these activities fun such as riding on a bus or baking bread! Please encourage your child to record something in their homework book after each activity- for example they could write a sentence, label a photo or draw a picture. We would like this to be the childrens own work please.

Homework needs to be handed in on the last Monday of each half term- we will remind you on Do Jo! Certificates are given out to children who have tried hard.
