Playground Proms and Dalcroze Workshop

Our Year 2 children enjoyed a dalcroze workshop prior to our whole school takling part in the Playground Proms. Our children thoroughly enjoyed this classical music experience which was organised by our local Music Hub.

Friday Singing with Madam Gooch

The whole school come together on a Friday morning and take part in a singing assembly led by music specialist, Madam Gooch.  Our Friday assemblies include learning songs for different seasons and celebrations such as Harvest, Christmas, Spring and other special events.  

Music Lessons

Our children in Key Stage One and Key Stage Two have the opportunity to learn to play an instrument with a specialist music teacher.  These lessons can be individually or in a small group.  Matt Gidlow teaches guitar and Jill Foster teaches piano and violin.  

Madam Gooch leads our school choir before school on a Friday as well as offering individual singing lessons for some of our pupils.

Music Through the Decades

A fun Friday was had by all celebrating music from the 1950s up to present day.  The children and staff enjoyed dressing up as their favourite artists and taking part in a variety of activities throughout the day.  This included mood drawings, creating Banksy style artwork, learning an 80s style dance, creating Pop art and finding out about world events from each decade.

Travelling By Tuba- The Best of British

We enjoyed a whole school performance of The Best of British from Travelling by Tuba.  KS1 then took part in workshops in which they had the opportunity to explore the instruments in more detail.  

Waltham Toll Bar Academy

Students from our local secondary school have visited us on several ocassions to share their musical talents with us. 

Music Around the World

Another successful fun Friday celebrating music from around the world.  The chidlren and staff loved dressing up as their favourite music artist and learning about instruments from a variety of countries including Brazil, China, India, Spain, Africa and the USA.  Ian Booth visited us to share a selection of unusual instruments from countries around the world and some classes had fun making their own musical instruments.  

Taiko Drumming

The whole school enjoyed a Taiko drumming demonstration before Years 4 and 5 took part in workshops.  

Key Stage 1

Our Year One and Year Two classes perform Christmas plays each year.

 

Year Two enjoy taking part in an annual Key Stage One singing festival organised by our local MAPAS team.  

 

Our Year One and Two children enjoyed a visit from our local secondary school's music department.  The children from Toll Bar gave a performance and our chidlren had the opportunity to explore different instruments.  

Key Stage 2

Year 3 ended their Egyptians topic with a fantastic performance of A Glint of Gold.  

Year 4 enjoyed taking part in the Grimsby Creates Noise music project.

Children in Year 3 have the opportunity to learn to play the recorder.

Our Year 4 children are taught to play the violin each week by a specialist music tecaher.  They showcase the skills they have learned by performing to parents at the end of the year.  

Children in Year 5 have the opportuinity to learn to play the ukulele.

Our Year 6 children are taught to play the djembe and samba drums each week in autumn and spring terms by Dave Cook.

Foundation Stage

Foundation Stage perfom a Christmas play each year.

The children enjoyed online sing and sign sessions led by our MAPAS team.

During our Chinese New Year and Divali celebrations the children had the opportunity to listen to music from different cultures.

Mrs Gooch visited us to deliver some music sessions in small groups.
