Reverend Rachel Fowler came in to talk to us about the story of Easter. We also sang some Easter songs.

Mrs Taylor brought in some items and talked to us about the Hindu festival, Sharad Navaratri, which takes place over nine nights every autumn in celebration of the Hindu mother goddess, Durga. Miss Censi dressed up in a traditional Hindu dress and the some children showed us a dance that is often performed.

Foundation Stage

Foundation Stage have spent the day learning about the Hindu festival of Holi. They dressed up in traditional costumes, learnt the traditional dance and even tasted some Hindu food.

For the Festival of Holi celebrations Foundation Stage had to dress up in red.

Key Stage 1

We had a whole school fun day based on the festival of Holi. The children learnt about the reasons behind the festival and completed a variety of activities. Each class had a colour that they dressed up in and then we held a colour run throwing coloured powders everywhere. Everyone had such fun.

Key Stage 2

KS2 also had a fantastic time on our Festival of Holi fun day. We produced colourful paintings, patterned hands, we acted out the story and we even wrote raps about the festival.

Year 3 have been trying on traditional Hindu clothing.

Year 4 looked at the Muslim way of living. The Muslims stick to a set of rules in order to follow a straight path in life. The children had to think about what life would be like if there were obstacles that got in the way of the straight path. They had a go at walking around the play trail blindfolded as a way of doing this.
